Fashion Controversy: Zara vs Givenchy.

I was casually tweeting yesterday as i do and i came across a retweet' which included photos of two T-shirts from Zara's new collection. There was a slight uproar at the fact that Zara had blatantly imitated ( to some extent) Givenchy's printed T-shirts. Now i understand that Zara are good at re-creating designer pieces and making them accessible on the High-street without it being to obvious but some people are now saying Zara has crossed the line and imitated Givenchy and created a knock off.

I some what agree that Zara has gotten a little carried away/ over inspired this time. The prints are very obvious as well as the designs and styles of the T-shirts. Givenchy take pride in their unique mirrored graphics as well as their distinctive use of stars throughout their pieces. The second Zara T shirt is very similar to two of Givenchy's more obvious designs.

You can argue that the Tshirts are not imitations and that the layouts are similar but not the same. Zara decided to use Pigeons instead animals such as the Infamous Rottweiler. Which i found slightly amusing but each to their own i guess.

Has Inspiration gone too far? You decide. Comment below and tell me what you think of Zara's new approach to 'Designer t shirts'

  1. I think it'sridiculous to waste over 300 pounds on a sweater... Sorry Givenchy I think Zara is simply even out the playing fill for people with less money. High end designer steal ideas all the time. I'm not saying it okay, just saying well done zara XD
